Even teachers use blogs in other countries. This blog is a network for teachers in Europe. It shows when and where there will be conferences held. It talks about the pressing issues. It is a “Community Blog for TEPE (Teacher Education Policy in Europe) network”. This is used to keep everyone up to date.

In South Africa, Miss Hayes and her second graders keep in touch by using a blog. She uses it to post lesson plans, teacher lingo, other teacher blogs, etc. She gives works sheets on the site and gives weekly updates. As of April, she has created 5 archives. She prepares her students and their parents for what is to come. She keeps the students and parents up to date with what is happening in the school, such as the teacher getting cancer.

K12
In this particular blog, a teacher by the name of Josie Frasier has posted a blog nominating teachers for the “Best Teaching Blog of 2006”. Many teachers were named and this site gave the web addresses the nominees. All the teachers were extremely insite full on how they used and/or created their blog. Thanks to this web site I was able to see how other teachers around the country felt about using the blog.
Best Teacher Blogs of 2006
Doug Noon: Although I did find his blog site to be a little strange, he had some great incite on teaching. Mr. Noon explains situation about the classrooms that have occurred to his own. Specifically, one of his blogs is called “Word of Mouth”. He starts by explaining how he spends half his time quieting the class down and the other half trying to get the quiet kids to speak up. He came to the conclution at the end, that he must use more presentations. This would be helpful to all upcoming teachers. Reading other teachers problems could possibly help solve tribulations in our own classrooms.

ACCESS
ACCESS: Alabama Connecting Classroom, Educators and Students Statewide.
Reading thru the power point and looking thru the website, I have come to the conclusion that I have no idea what this program is supposed to do. The site does provide connection to each school’s IVC labs. This makes sharing “course work and teachers” available state wide.
However, I do understand that it should connect students and teachers statewide. Maybe even teachers can connect and work with other teachers on lesson plans and students can have the ability to on assignments. Also, this website helps students achieve an advance diploma. It also seems to be useful in that, students can go on virtual field trips. I have not seen any usefulness in the Elementary School aspect. ACCESS also helps school keep up with the latest technological advances. It contains courses and seminars for teachers. Alabama state is providing the funding for this project, with the goal in mind that all schools will be connected and able to enroll students as well as “policies – teachers, support personnel, Students—academic integrity, drop, code of conduct, acceptable use, etc.”
“Schools must provide students with online access to computers with reliable internet connection.” As for the IVC courses, “school must provide a reliable internet-connected computer and access to an IVC equipped, H.323 standard school lab.” Courses give will be taught during the school day.

ALEX
ALEX: Alabama Learning Exchange
This incredible resource helps teachers and professors communicate what works and what doesn’t in the classroom. On this site there are places you can store your own lessons as well as search for you comrade’s lesson plans. Any age can use ALEX as a learning tool. Courses of study are broken down into subjects and grade levels, making this an easy and clear-cut website. ALEX also gives links to other resources such as Alabama Public Library, Alabama Public Television, The Malone Foundation, Thinkfinity, and more.
Looking thru this website, teachers can find lesson plans down to the minuet subject. Most importantly for teachers, there is feed back from other teachers and students. Also, students getting ready to enter the next grade level can look ahead and know what will be expected. This is an easy site to use and explore. In teaching I plan to compare and contrast my lesson plans with others. This will help because I might forget something or maybe even inspire someone else to do something a little different.

The War and People that Know Nothing
Most people that are against the war in Iraq; I can understand where they are coming from but, until you are in the military or are around those that are, you will never understand what the men and women are doing for you. Think about it, do you want to be drafted. Probably not if you are against the war in the first place. Many people see it like Vietnam. But we ALL pray that it is not.
I now have a much better understanding of what we are going for. Maybe if the news would focus on the positive aspect about soldiers that are making a difference in the lives of the people, it may become more respected.
Oh and Fred Phelps needs help, If he thinks that protesting people because they are different is going to get him and his family anywhere, he is wrong. WHAT AN IDIOT!
